Statement by the International Board of Trustees of the European Humanities University

October 29, 2004

On behalf of the members of the International Board of Trustees, we write to affirm our gratitude to the students, faculty and stuff of the European Humanities University for their extraordinary efforts over the past months to preserve the mission and vital academic work of EHU.

The Trustees affirm their commitment to the University and its faculty to provide support of core academic activities, including distance learning, graduate studies, the CASE program, and other special programs identified by the administration of EHU (EHU-International) for the full 2004-2005 academic year. Furthermore, the Trustees and donors have requested a proposal from the administration of EHU (EHU-International) for a two-year plan and a five-year plan of proposed activities to be reviewed by the Trustees in early 2005 for continued support.

It is expected that certain activities of EHU (EHU-International) will be self-supporting, while others will require funding assistance from international donors. The Trustees will work closely with the administration of EHU (EHU-International) to identify additional donors to support the work of the EHU (EHU-International) in the years ahead, while making every effort to preserve present levels of current donor support for the University and its programs.
