CONTEMPORARY COMMUNICATIVE PHILOSOPHY
AND COMMUNICATIVE STRATEGIES
IN PHILOSOPHY TEACHING

 

The project has been realized in July 2003 – February 2006 at EHU with support of OSI/HESP. Project director: Prof. Anatoly Mikhailov; project coordinator: Ass. Prof. Evgeny Borisov.

 

A. Thematic field and main goals of the project

Thematic field of the project is contemporary communicative philosophy presented in its main directions: social theory, hermeneutical philosophy, and philosophical anthropology.

The main goals of the project are:

  1. to organize a long-term collaborative work of a team of young university faculty committed to the radical advancement of philosophy teaching in the post-Soviet landscape and capable of multiplying innovative effects of the regional seminar at their home universities;
  2. to disseminate within the region exemplary attempts of synthesis of advanced scholarship with dialogical strategies of philosophy teaching, both presented by resource persons and designed by participants;
  3. to provide the regional networking of initiatives with intent to modernize the discipline and to institutionalize a new generation in post-Soviet philosophy.

 

B. Participants and Resource Faculty

24 young philosophy teachers from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Georgia have participated in the project. The following persons have been working as core resource faculty members, i.e. involved in all activities within the project: Prof. Vladimir Fours, Ass. Prof. Tatiana Shchyttsova, Ass. Prof. Ilya Inishev (all from EHU). Besides, the following scholars have participated in separate sessions as resource persons: Prof. Jean Grondin (Montreal, Canada), Prof. Hans-Peter Kruger (Berlin, Germany), Privatdocent Thomas Fuchs (Heidelberg, Germany), Prof. Mark S. Poster (Irvine, California, USA), Prof. Bernhard Waldenfels (Bochum, Germany), Privatdocent Dr. Peter Trawny (Wuppertal, Germany), Privatdocent Paola-Ludovica Coriando (Freiburg, Germany), and Ass. Prof. Evgeny Borisov (Minsk).

 

C. Activities and list of events

4. Intersession small group seminars held in St.Petersburg, Kyiv and Vilnius (2005 – 2006).
