Bachelor’s Degree Program in International Law

The bachelor’s program in International Law is aimed at attaining the European standards of legal education and training a new generation of lawyers able to facilitate the process of implementation of international commitments into the national legal system of Belarus, serve as mediators in the dialogue of legal cultures, and contribute to Belarus’ progress towards a democratic constitutional state and open civil society.

Current Belarusian system of legal training is inadequate to meet the requirements of democratic and market reforms; it is characterized by the lack of academic freedoms, ideology-driven instruction process, constraints of the academic and students’ exchange.

The curriculum of the program includes 3 major blocks. The humanities block develops basic educational skills and fosters humanistic vision. The second block is devoted to the national legal system of Belarus. The third block is intended for the in-depth study of the International law; this block includes an intense training of the students in the law of the European Union, Council of Europe with particular attention to the law and jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The offered bachelor’s program prepares specialists for legal practice, organizational and managerial positions.
